10:45-11:45 From LAMP to Koha: Case study of the Pakistan legislative assembly libraries
Farasat Shafi-Ullah

This presentation is about the shifting of the Pakistan legislative assembly libraries from LAMP (Library Automation Management Program, the collaborative efforts under the Netherlands library project) to the open source base flavor of Koha named as PakLAG Koha. This presentation will place emphasis on the data conversion issues from LAMP to MARC21, the tools used to convert this data to MARC21, HR issues, professional training issues and acceptance of users. IT infrastructure and ICT capability of library professional staff will also be highlighted. Another unique thing about this project is the acceptance of professional volunteer groups, and an open source solution on a pay for support basis.

14:15-15:45 Support checklist discussion
everybody

There are many Koha service providers, with various offerings, from installation help, training, custom development work, general support, to full-blown hosting. Over the years, many providers and customers have gained much experience with what works and what does not. A checklist of best practices for Koha service providers and their customers would help everyone. For providers, it would suggest ways they might improve their business. For customers, what they might look for when choosing a provider. A good way to kick-off such a list would be to have a group discussion when a lot of the people involved, from all sides, are in the same room. Someone needs to write down the important points, and probably there should be a moderator to keep the discussion on track. The result would be put on the Koha wiki, with invitations on Koha mailing lists and other fora for all to discuss and improve it.
